Hang all the Mistletoe

December 10, 2017

Oh, I love Christmas time and I have to tell you I may be one of those people that does not have a problem with Christmas music before Thanksgiving! Guilty as charged!

Music is a wonderful expression and gives so much joy and I truly love and appreciate it even more during the holidays. Growing up with a musician you understand the intricacies of the business and the detail and emotions that go into writing a song. My brother is truly a gifted singer and songwriter. I am going to see if he will sing a quick holiday song for me to share…

Don’t have a full song, but here is a quick and silly snippet of his beautiful voice! Totally put him on the spot. If you want to check out more of his soulful voice click here.

My favorite song of the season has to be the rich voice of Bing Crosby singing “White Christmas”. I mean seriously…have you heard anything more beautiful. The first time I remember hearing the song was actually in 6th grade choir. During the holidays we watched White Christmas as a class and I have loved that movie and watch it every year multiple times.

The kids have grown to love music and have a blast “caroling” during the season. I say that loosely as they are still learning some of the lyrics and have incorporated some other silly ones too! Oh, what fun!!!

My top 10 favorite Christmas songs are:

  1. White Christmas, Bing Crosby
  2. All I Want for Christmas, Mariah Carey
  3. Drummer Boy, Whitney Houston
  4. O Come All Ye Faithful, Martina McBride
  5. Silent Night, Josh Groban
  6. God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman, Barenaked Ladies
  7. The Christmas Song, Nat King Cole
  8. Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra
  9. Hallelujah, Pentatonix
  10. O Holy Night, Celine Dion
  11. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Michael Buble

I mean you can’t go wrong with holiday music in my book. On the radio we have a few stations that play holiday music. Dallas stations 98.7, 101.1, 102.1. Otherwise, I listen to Pandora or turn the Spectrum on to channel 941! Siruis channel 70 the Holly Station is great too!
