Mix and Match

Mix and Match

Happy Thursday!

You did it. You made it through most of the week and only have one day to go before you can sit back and relax.

Did you guys catch the World Series? How about them Astros?! When I graduated from college I worked for one of their farm teams and loved it. This was such a wonderful victory for them in light of recent events. Proud of their team and will.  It was bittersweet to watch though. One of the pitchers for the Dodgers grew up in my neighborhood. I guess I could not go wrong with either team winning. =) Until next season! Come on April!

Today was a day full of errands and work. I am one of those people that starts a project and will move to another before completing the first one. This does not happen with everyday things, just home redecorating etc.  Needless to say, I must break the cycle and get it done. Well, I did today. I finally wrapped up a purging project. Several piles of goodies to donate to the shelters and families in need. That was a much needed task that is rewarding!

With all the things going on today I needed a casual look to match my mood and the job at hand. This look is so fun! I mixed and matched several pieces and layered x2! You can’t go wrong with all that texture =)

My exact vest is from E.Leigh’s Boutique. It is a quilted pattern and the hoodies is fur lined. I love the olive green too. This can carry you through the season. It will also work nicely under a jacket. I layered over a very lightweight flannel and lace trimmed cami. In Texas this week we have been starting our days with cooler weather only to turn into 80 and 90 degrees. These layers are key!

I am in some distressed denim jeans with a hi lo hem. The hems right now are all cut, cuffed, frayed, and frilled. Have fun with your denim.  I paired my Sam Edelman boogies with the look. They are extremely comfortable and gorgeous to boot.

Accessories are all eclectic and purchased through out of state vendors. The bag is Remember Me Green. They are an eco-friendly company that uses sustabible billboards and recycles/upcycles them into bags and more. Check them out. Their story is worth reading.

Earrings are from the Fuss Boutique in Florida. They offer an online store as well as direct sales over the phone.

Accomplished and casual is the name of the game today. So glad to check one more thing off the list.

Have a great night and until tomorrow.

xo,

Vanessa

Pop of Pink

Pop of Pink

A quick mini series from this past weekend. Sorry for the delay, but life and the kids come first!

Earlier this year I found this great Zara top. I love this top. It is a mix between sweatshirt and sweater and is so comfortable. The color is amazing and the sleeve is extra long, which is perfect for that cold weather. I wish it were still in inventory, but sadly it is not. Great news is I linked some other great pink options. I will also keep my eyes open for the new Winter Collection at Zara.

This look is super cozy. The top really makes the look. The rest is just icing. I have my trusty HUE leggings my with a great long cardigan/vest. Don’t forget my Minnetonka boots. I know UGGS are the typical go to boot and I own two pair, but my Minnetonka is so great. It is shorter which is better for my calf and it very durable. The custhion is also unreal. If you have never owned one of these shoes or boots you are missing out. They also offer a super cute kids collection too!

The is simple and sweet. The pink really pops the outfit. I say if you are going to wear color, make it pop. Have fun this season with the beautiful colors that are out. If you have more spring like colors and tops you want to wear throw those into the mix. You can layer anything right now and make it work.

Have fun playing with color!

XO,
Vanessa

Orange to the Max

Orange to the Max

As you all know, I am a Texas Longhorn. Orange is my color and I will sport it whenever possible. This weekend kicks off our big rivalry game. Texas OU is now referred to as the Red River Rivalry. It is a weekend of fun, football, and the state fair.

To start the weekend I rounded up some of my favorite orange and Fall pieces to give you an awesome look that is perfect for the festivities. I am in a great maxi with pockets. You have seen me in this before and I will be in it again. I own the navy and orange and am thinking of buying every color. I love it that much. It was actually purchased on Amazon here. Below you will see an almost exact version by SHEIN and some other fun possibilities.

I layered with my infinity scarf from Paul Michael Company. This is only available in stores so I linked some other great options. Add in a stacked pendant necklace to make the look pop.

I love my Sam Edelman booties. They are very comfortable and the caramel coloring is beautiful. The booties give the look a rustic and edgy feel.

If you like that boho vibe this a good one for you. Hope your Fall is off to a good start. Happy shopping and if you have not been to the pumpkin patch yet, check out your local Trader Joe’s for an amazing selection. If you live in Dallas, head to Ruibal’s Garden Center for all your landscaping needs.

Cut it Out

Cut it Out

It’s no secret I’m not a conservative dresser. I like it a little over the edge in some clothing decisions. Be on the lookout for remarkable sleeve details this fall. What I loved about this dress was the detail work from shoulder down to the wrist. I found it creative and edgy to highlight the arms instead of the bust line or legs. It’s form fitting so for me that works with my figure. I added a beautiful heel and black bag as well as my go to gold jewelry and watch.

I can’t say enough about the little black dress. Whether, it’s plain or with detail you can’t beat having it in your wardrobe. Add in the over the knee boots and you have a completely different look. This screams look at me. The boots are so comfortable and actually fit over my calf. Can you believe it? Thank goodness for designers understanding that all women do not come in the same shape. Wide calf boots are all over the shelves these days. If you are a curvier girl make sure you sample some of these cuts as they will be more comfortable and look great.

Being a mom is challenging as well as rewarding. I do want to remember to own my own personal space and style. It’s that space where you haven’t forgotten your likes and dreams of whatever it might be for you. Be daring sometimes and walk on the edge of fashion. It’s fun and different, but more importantly it’s your style.

Have a wonderful weekend, it’s my alma mater’s big college rivalry this weekend in Dallas at the State Fair of Texas. Look for some fun pics celebrating a good old fashion southern football season. Oh, and Happy Friday the 13th. 🙂

Repeat, Recycle, Rewear

Repeat, Recycle, Rewear

There is nothing better than finding a few pieces in a wardrobe that can pair well with many things. This season two items are hot and I have had them on repeat a lot. This week especially 😉 My distressed hi lo jeans and my animal print slides. Both go well with all colors and keep a casual look exciting with the ripped style and the loud animal print!

I know what you are thinking. She paid money for jeans with holes and cuts all over them. Right! It is a tough pill to swallow especially when I could give my five year olds scissors to create the same piece. HA! Ladies, I am hear to tell you. Spend the money. You can find these jeans from $30 to $200. They are trendy, durable, and can be worn anywhere.

The slides are some of my favorites. Animal print roared itself right in to this season’s standards. It is bold and edgy. There are several items that are available and most are surprisingly affordable. My slides are very comfortable and the texture is a silky soft. I really like the print and don’t feel like I have too much of a good thing going on.

My top is an oldie but goodie. A v neck never goes out of style and the cut is appealing and sophisticated. I could easily wear this into the office or keep it relaxed for a day on the town. I linked several v necks for you to choose from that have the same look and appeal as my exact top.

To doll up the look I layered a lot of gold on my wrist. I can’t tell you how much I like this grouping. My Michael Kors bangle is chunky and is a nice solid piece to wear with my watch. I have an evil eye bracelet that is simple and delicate to help break up the bulk. I also wore my David Yurman cuff that is two metals with some bling. This totally added appeal to my casual style.

When you find a good thing show it off. Recycling is totally in and doesn’t just need to stop at the kitchen.

I love pink. I love comfortable fashion. I love beautiful jewelry. This look encompasses my style and is on major sale too.

Last Call has this great smocked off the shoulder top from Max Studio. It comes in multiple colors and is about to be gone fast. Hurry and purchase as this top is a great cut that will transition between most seasons. It is easy to layer and looks wonderful on its own.

Jeans are my trusty hi lo hem and they are so comfortable. One thing I have done with this pair is let some of the rips grow. Right now distressed torn jeans are hot. The bigger the better right. ha!

I have been layering my jewelry and love the pop it adds. The jewelry is stylish, lightweight, and adds texture and appeal. Thank you.

These slides are amazing. Franco Sarto has them in a couple of colors. The embellished top is a sweet and edgy look. They are on sale in most color options too.

Have fun in this sweet look that is on sale now!
