Swoon! Isn’t this top dreamy? I was walking the racks and came upon this beautiful knot back sweater. The deep v and the peek-a-boo at the bottom are sexy, elegant, and sophisticated. As holiday parties are fast approaching it is time to start thinking about your outfit. Below are a few tips to help you get started.

  1. You can never go wrong in black.
  2. Add a little detail that will wow the guests. The detail on the back of the sweater is one way. Another is through a change in color. The red velvet heels add a nice cheery touch to the all black.
  3. Texture is a good thing. My pants and shoes are velvet. This material adds a richness to the look. To be honest, when I think of the holidays velvet is always on the list.

Do you have any holiday go to outfits?

This one is definitely on the list. Now all I need to do is find a LBD.

Hope you had a wonderful week!

Vanessa

Happy Thursday!

You did it. You made it through most of the week and only have one day to go before you can sit back and relax.

Did you guys catch the World Series? How about them Astros?! When I graduated from college I worked for one of their farm teams and loved it. This was such a wonderful victory for them in light of recent events. Proud of their team and will.  It was bittersweet to watch though. One of the pitchers for the Dodgers grew up in my neighborhood. I guess I could not go wrong with either team winning. =) Until next season! Come on April!

Today was a day full of errands and work. I am one of those people that starts a project and will move to another before completing the first one. This does not happen with everyday things, just home redecorating etc.  Needless to say, I must break the cycle and get it done. Well, I did today. I finally wrapped up a purging project. Several piles of goodies to donate to the shelters and families in need. That was a much needed task that is rewarding!

With all the things going on today I needed a casual look to match my mood and the job at hand. This look is so fun! I mixed and matched several pieces and layered x2! You can’t go wrong with all that texture =)

My exact vest is from E.Leigh’s Boutique. It is a quilted pattern and the hoodies is fur lined. I love the olive green too. This can carry you through the season. It will also work nicely under a jacket. I layered over a very lightweight flannel and lace trimmed cami. In Texas this week we have been starting our days with cooler weather only to turn into 80 and 90 degrees. These layers are key!

I am in some distressed denim jeans with a hi lo hem. The hems right now are all cut, cuffed, frayed, and frilled. Have fun with your denim.  I paired my Sam Edelman boogies with the look. They are extremely comfortable and gorgeous to boot.

Accessories are all eclectic and purchased through out of state vendors. The bag is Remember Me Green. They are an eco-friendly company that uses sustabible billboards and recycles/upcycles them into bags and more. Check them out. Their story is worth reading.

Earrings are from the Fuss Boutique in Florida. They offer an online store as well as direct sales over the phone.

Accomplished and casual is the name of the game today. So glad to check one more thing off the list.

Have a great night and until tomorrow.

xo,

Vanessa

Weekend Travel

Weekend Travel

Travel Bag: Blvd. East

My family loves to travel. I was so excited to take this last minute trip to Denver with my hubby. He has work and I have socializing and shopping! Yes! You can’t be that for a fun getaway.

I told you before that my husband went to the Air Force Academy and we have several friends that live in Colorado from his time in the military and all of our assignments. Colorado was home almost ten years ago. We sure do miss it and try to get back as often as possible. Tonight is not only about work, but friendships and we can’t wait to connect with our friends!

Because our trip was a short one I got to debut my new weekender. I love this barrel bag. It is made from the finest leather and is two toned. There is a double zipper, a shoulder strap (optional), and it comes in two color options, signature Windsor hunter green or navy blue with a tan accent. Guys and gals – you have to pick one of these up. They are spacious and offer appeal for a day bag or a weekend bag. The hubs and I are already fighting over whose bag it is – honestly, doesn’t he know that everything is mine. JK!

The company behind the bag is Blvd. East. They are a local Dallas company with a great story. All items are handmade in Dallas and LA. Their philioshpy is Find Your Journey. You know what? Your bags make it that much easier to take on life.

Here’s to finding your journey! Happy weekend!

Vanessa

BTW, exciting things are coming soon. Make sure to check back often!

Good morning! Hope you all had a wonderful night!

Today is a jam packed day for this mama! Not only do I have to get the kids ready for school, but I have to get myself ready to sub too! Fun times!

I am helping out in the special needs classroom for half a day. I love working with these students. They are all so wonderful and love their integration into the mainstream classrooms. Such an amazing feat.

While I am subbing the twins get to go on their very first field trip. I wish I could attend, but know they will be well looked after. So many milestones for them this year.

After school we actually have a pretty clear schedule. There are only fun things to be done. Our preschool organization has a wonderful Halloween Party. I hope to make it because one of our favorite photographers will be taking Fall photos in his mini sessions. Afterwards, Chris and I are attending a gala downtown.

See it never ends. We are always busy busy. We would never change a thing and I pray when we are older we will finally get that much needed rest. Hahaha!

When working I like to be as comfortable as possible. You are up on your feet a lot depending on the class and you are in and out of the school all day. Fortunately, the classroom where I am is more free in their dress policy. You can wear jeans anytime. Today I opted for a fun style that will work in school and out for errands. A half day of play and half day of work. That works for me.

In the schools it tends to be cooler. It is always wise to layer. Today I layered times two. I dressed up some boyfriend jeans with a cute animal print cardigan and a long solid cardigan. I gave the look even more edge with my red booties. Guys, these are so great. The exact ones are linked above in the “Outfit Details”. Word of caution – they are tall, but surprisingly easy to move around in and wear for long hours. That is a bonus. Worst case scenario, I will throw my converse or slides in my purse if my feet can’t make it. Tricks of the trade my friends 😉

Well, I am off. I can’t wait to show you my black tie look for the gala and tell you all about the organization and their vision.

Happy Thursday, the weekend is fast approaching!

Vanessa

Fall Vibes

Fall Vibes

Outfit Details:

Top: A New Day / Vest: Michael Kors / Pants: Madewell / Shoes: Dolce Vita / Scarf: A New Day / Earrings: Gorjana / Watch: Rolex / Cuff: David Yurman

Do you ever have those weeks where everything is chaos and you are hoping for a small period of time to catch up? Well, that is my kind of week. Everyone is happy, healthy, and healthy so we are good on that front. We just are bombarded with activities for both parents and kids and there are not enough of us. Michael Keeton got it right in Multiplicity 😉 Did I just age myself with that one?!

Please forgive me for the delay in sharing some of my finds with you. I promise to make it up to you!

In this look I am sharing some beautiful Fall colors that are affordable and adorable. I love color and want you to love it too.

I found this beautiful scarf on a recent trip to Target. I have told you before that they have amazing things in their new lines. Trust me and go see for yourself. Just don’t be mad when you walk away with a cart full of things you were not planning on buying. Back to the scarf. The colors are so rich and vibrant. You have shades of pink, blue, and orange. The plaid style is on trend and the colors can’t be beat. I layered this over a casual look and it turned up the whole outfit in a flash. A great buy for layering this season.

Although I am wearing black, the color from the scarf and my top transform a neutral pallette to a stylish outfit. My jeans are skinny black jeans that are very versatile. My faux fur vest is Michael Kors and is no longer available for purchase. I did offer similar styles that are equally beautiful and will pull off this look.

Booties and mules are back and the styles and colors are amazing. My mules are Dolce Vita and are suede. They are extremely comfortable and add that extra pop by breaking up with black with brown.

My bag is Louis Vuitton. It is almost as old as me and I love it. It is drawstring style and is a great play on a standard tote. I linked a couple backpack options by LV that I think you will like too.

Thank you for being patient and waiting on me to share this outfit. I hope you have a wonderful week and I will be playing catch up on a few looks. Talk to you soon!

Vanessa
